April 11, 2009, Long Beach, CA – Today marked the first round of this year’s Formula D, currently the States’ largest and most popular drifting venue. As in previous years, Formula D kicks off as a precursor event to the Long Beach Grand Prix. Utilizing a small section of the Long Beach track, the first round always presents an exciting and unique setup for drifting- unlike actual raceways, the track is laid out in the middle of the city streets- certain sections (particularly the part used for Formula D) are quite narrow, and tends to result in exciting close calls and spectacular crashes.

Anaheim, CA – March 14, 2009 marks the first leg of this year’s Hot Import Nights tour! Luckily for us West Coasters, the first stop will be in our good old hometown, Anaheim at the Angels Stadium.  It was originally to be held at Dodger Stadium,  so unfortunately we won’t be able to get a sampling of Phillipe’s French dip sandwiches on the way over there. On the other hand, it’s now only a 10 minute drive , and I will be there to cover the numerous models there- er, I mean the whole event! March 7, 2009 Foothill Ranch, CA – Vorsteiner and Mfest had it’s customer appreciation day and pre-mfest meet at Oakley headquarters in sunny southern California. Lambo’s, Ferrari’s and Porshes marquees were all well represented and vendors like brembo, kw and panerai all showed their support for the huge event. Not only was the huge crowd treated to free in-n-out meals but also a raffle event inside the Oakley auditorium with major vorsteiner parts being raffled off. Major props to Peter of Vorsteiner and Chris of Mfest for putting together a great event. See you guys at Vegas in April!

Crumpler, the Australian based bag company that specializes in stylish messenger bags with their wacky names that we know and love, finally brings their Beer for Bags promotion to the Philippines, the first ever in Asia. For those that can’t quite grasp the concept, you basically bring in beer in exchange for bags. Crumpler would post online what specific beer brands they were looking for and the amount of bottles/cans required, in exchange for a specific bag. The total cost of the beer bought would normally end up being cheaper than the retail price of the bag. The beer brought in was then served to those who availed of the promotion at a party after the event.

We bid farewell to Wednesdays at Piedra as Spyco productions hosts We Luv Wednesdays for the last time. On deck were DJ’s Crash and Chester Canlas spinning the latest and hippest beats on the airwaves. Don’t be depressed though, as Spyco productions brings you yet another event to be held on Fridays. Madlightmedia.com again brings you coverage from the hippest events. “Hear to Heal”, a fundraiser event, is a fashion show and concert in one, for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit service oriented organization, and Alpha Delta Mu Sorority’s Medical Missions. Held at Warehouse 135 in Makati City, sponsors for the event were Burger King, San Miguel, L’Oreal, Garnier, Magic 89.9, Pierre & Arrastre & Stevedoring Services inc. Co-sponsors for the event were MILCU and Jagermeister, with Jagermeister handing out drinks for everybody with their Jagermeisterettes. The fashion show involved some of the local designers like Archipelago, Happy Days shirts, and Plueys Manila, with students from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery to showcase their designs. Local bands provided entertainment for the night, namely Urban Dub, Salamin, Protein Shake, Aurora, and Happy Hector, a band composed of students from the UST Medicine faculty. Judging from the looks of the coverage we took, it seems like the event was a success.
