Anaheim, CA –  This past weekend, we had the opportunity to check out this year’s first Extreme Autofest event in Anaheim – and let me just say that this was probably one of the best car shows in recent memory. I was really looking forward to this show because it was one of the only true outdoor shows that ran from day to night- something that’s been missing ever since HIN went through a change in management (damn I miss those days).

But I digress- at first I had second thoughts about this when I started seeing a few Fast and Furious-style cars, and that maybe I should go home. But then I realized how diverse the lineup was compared to most car shows, which tend to cater to mostly imports. This was probably the first car show I’ve seen where imports, exotics, donks, low riders, street rods, bikes, and classic cars coexist happily. It’s not very often that you can see a Skyline GTR one way, and come across a Chevy Fleetline the other- and I loved it.

In addition to the cars, Extreme Autofest was also brimming with activity, including the usual dance competition and model talent searches. What caught my eye the most though were the drifting exhibitions, which, unlike the “real” drifting events, actually allowed us photographers to be up close and personal without having to try and find a spot of cut wire fencing to even attempt to get a shot ::cough-Formula D-cough::. This definitely brought back memories of the good old D1GP days.

All in all, I had a great time here- I definitely wish I had come earlier to get more pictures and footage. Extreme Autofest tags itself an automotive lifestyle festival- I think they definitely lived up to the name.
