as the topic states… which one is better? (click images to enlarge)
Exhibit A) Mine
Exhibit B) Steve's
Steve claims that my picture is flat with no shadow details when clearly, the contrast in my pictures show much more gradation between the highlights and shadow areas.
Let the real photographers be the judge!!!
haha.. all i'm saying is for some reason that shot kinda makes her look like a cardboard.
I didn't say anything about shadows or not enough contrast, obviously it has more than mine since my setting on the camera is neutral.
I think it's just the highlights on her skin has a grayish color that's throwing me off. Like how you can do too much highlight recovery and make the subject look flat. Her bottom half looks pretty normal, but the top torso looks odd to me..

I agree about the cardboard. When I first saw it I was like hmz a shot of Alicia full size cardboard poster. Then I realized it was actually her. Something is funny about her stomache area in Daves pic also. I think this is all just related to it being shot with a Canon compared to a Nikon
But I do like the vividness of it.

I think she probably looks like cardboard because her body is totally parallel to the camera, from about chest up. There was no post processing done whatsoever to the picture other than the "portrait" setting, and some highlight recovery.. so if you are saying there is something wrong with her face and stomach, then what you're REALLY saying is you think Alicia HERSELF iis lookin weird!!! And that is pure blasphemy
