May 1-2. 2009, Santa Monica, CA ->Anaheim, CA – This year’s Gumball 3000 started at the Pier in Santa Monica, CA.  For those that don’t know, the Gumball 3000 is an annual rally that covers 3000 miles, usually taking place in different parts of the world each year.  More importantly, the Gumball event is really a chance for ballers to drive their cars around and party every night! This year 120 cars were officially entered in the event, ranging from Veyrons, F430s, Murcielagos and GT3s, to Scion TCs and a Crown Vic dressed up to battle the swine flu. The next day, the parade headed over to the Anaheim Stadium to make a stop over at the D1GP event being held the same day, to the delight of the audience. Next stop, Vegas! Someday, we will join this crowd… after pooling all our resources together in the next 50 years! Check out the gallery of fine cars after the jump.

Anaheim, CA- Coming in two weeks marks the exciting return of the D1GP in the United States! After a year long hiatus, the original Japanese drift series is making its comeback appearance- thankfully for us So Cal residents, the first round will take place in Anaheim at the Angels Stadium! In previous years the tracks have always been at Irwindale, so the new layout at Anaheim should provide us with interesting and potentially new angles. The nature of D1GP’s layouts usually let us in up close and personal to the action, so we look forward to getting awesome shots for coverage. I’m always excited about D1GP for one main reason- seeing Ken Nomura’s 4 door Skyline in action. Nothing beats that sexy beast!

April 11, 2009, Long Beach, CA – Today marked the first round of this year’s Formula D, currently the States’ largest and most popular drifting venue. As in previous years, Formula D kicks off as a precursor event to the Long Beach Grand Prix. Utilizing a small section of the Long Beach track, the first round always presents an exciting and unique setup for drifting- unlike actual raceways, the track is laid out in the middle of the city streets- certain sections (particularly the part used for Formula D) are quite narrow, and tends to result in exciting close calls and spectacular crashes.

April 2-5, 2009 –  The 2009 Manila International Auto Show kicked off last April 2, 2009, which lasted for four days, with the last day held on April 5, 2009. The focus for this year’s show was on the mass market Filipino Electric Car that was unveiled at the show, EVnnovations’ REVAi Electric car which can travel 80 Km with one full charge. Also, five Value Car brands were also launched at the show, namely Chana, Cherry, Foton, Great Wall, and Lifan. These brands promise more value for less money. 3-time Guiness World Record holder for Precision driving, Russ Swift also graced the event with an exhibition of his stunts.

March 14, 2009, Anaheim, CA – The ladies weren’t the only ones turning our heads- this HIN brought out a wide assortment of interesting and unique cars. Among some of the more noticeable ones were an actual S15 Silvia, a mint C10 Nissan Skyline GT-R, one of the first fixed up Kia Souls (well.. somebody cares, right?), a bunch of exotics, as well as the usual show strictly show-only cars that I’m not sure how they’re even driven around.

Anaheim, CA – March 14, 2009 marks the first leg of this year’s Hot Import Nights tour! Luckily for us West Coasters, the first stop will be in our good old hometown, Anaheim at the Angels Stadium.  It was originally to be held at Dodger Stadium,  so unfortunately we won’t be able to get a sampling of Phillipe’s French dip sandwiches on the way over there. On the other hand, it’s now only a 10 minute drive , and I will be there to cover the numerous models there- er, I mean the whole event! Madlightmedia.com presents to you coverage from the recent Heatwave carshow held last December 5-6, 2008. Located at the Megatrade hall of SM Megamall, the show featured project cars from different aftermarket tuners, bodyshops, and enthusiasts located in Metro Manila. Cars in attendance were diverse, from the latest Mitsubishi Evo X to old school Toyota Starlets and Mitsubishi Galants. Nowadays, promo girls are also always present at car shows in Manila, and this showwasn’t an exception. There was also a number of stalls that displayed their wares, from car products and magazines, to toys and food. It was a fun little event.

Held at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City, Philippines, last November 20-23. 2008. This Automotive Aftermarket Show featured custom show vehicles, drift cars, race cars, and also live entertainment. Race queens were also abundant at the show. The International Auto Sound Challenge Association (IASCA) was present at the event, which held a Mobile competition. Notable cars on display were Ryan Agoncillo’s Yellow Cab Drift RX-7, the DMF S15 drift car, the Motul and Emperor GTR, and the Emperor EVO X.
